A Birthday Party!

Unbelievably, William and Oliver turn 5 this year and as it was their first year at school a class party was requested!  Luckily this year they have been in the same class so when they requested the whole class and two other friends, eighteen children seemed bearable in the face of a possible 40 next year!! We had it early before school ends for the summer and people head off.

We decided to hire a room and have a traditional birthday party.

We made sandwiches and cocktails sausages and even had to make jammie dodgers and party rings as you need a second mortgage to buy them here!

As the day approached Oliver and William got very excited and were keen to get involved, helping make and decorate their birthday cakes.

Sam enjoyed planning and running the games at the party and his firm favourite was sleeping lions.  Others were pass the parcel, which seems more complicated these days as each child expects to unwrap a layer and keeping note of that is not easy, musical bumps and What's the time Mr Wolf.  All of the children enjoyed the games and several of the Chinese mum's asked me to write them down.  We are doing wonders for cutural exchange!
